responsible for heterogeneity in exposure - that being, an individual's home range or territory. To formalize the usage of location of capture information, we require a hierarchical model that links encounter to observed location, and observed location to this notion of individual 'place'. We provide a formal analysis of this phenomenon in Section 7.3, where we define an individual's activity center and its relation to the individual's capture locations.
