Another source of ethanol corn has been redirected from exports, and export prices have also risen. Very little of the corn grown in the U.S. is made available as high quality whole foods. Instead, other than as feed for livestock, the primary use of most corn is for industrial food products, such as high fructose corn syrup and starch products used in highly processed food products that add little to the necessary caloric needs of people.
