The values of entropy production dependent on solar radiation in the light zone (euphotic zone) are related to the amount of dissolved organic matter and SS per m3 of lake water in the light zone. The ratio of the amount of SS in Lake Mendota to that in Lake Biwa (1:5) and the ratio of DOC in Lake Mendota to that in Lake Biwa (2:1) are consistent with the ratio of entropy production dependent on solar radiation between Lake Mendota and Lake Biwa (Table 9.3).
