Growth in body weight

Male (1-20 years): Wt = 3,112[1 - exp (-0.114(t + 3.95))]3 kg

Male (older than 20 years): Wt = 4,742[1 - exp (-0.166(t- 10.48))]3 kg

Female (older than 2 years): Wt = 2,744[1 - exp (-0.099(t + 6.0))]3 kg

As the Murchison Falls elephants were believed to be in relatively poor condition at the time of sampling, it was suggested that the "optimal" asymptotic weights were 5,314 kg for male and 2,986 kg for female elephants.
