Stations were divided into northern (Lower Bay) and southern (Raritan and Sandy Hook Bay) regions using the mud-sand boundary that runs from southwest of Great Kills to the northern tip of Sandy Hook (Fig. 18.2). No correction was made for differences in sampling methods. Consequently, abundances for Ampelisca sp. and Corophium tuberculatum were probably 25-30% higher during 1957-60 than indicated.
