Delay differential models for hostparasitoid dynamics

The recent volume of Murdoch et al. (2003) is a wonderful general reference on the topics considered in this chapter. Gordon et al. (1991) use a delay differential model to understand the synchrony of host and parasitoid development. Bonsall et al. (2002) use such models to investigate the roles of ecological trade-offs, resource partitioning and coexistence in host-parasitoid assemblages. Delays can enter into the discrete time models too, for example through age structure (Bellows and Hassell 1988).
