Frequency—This testing condition specifies whether samples are taken periodically or continuously. Method—This testing condition specifies whether standardized reference methods are used to analyze for a particular compound or if a customized method must be developed.
Location—This testing condition specifies whether samples are taken from the field to the laboratory or are tested directly in the field. For stack sampling, environmental engineers must refine arrangements to obtain representative samples for analysis. Figure 5.9.1 shows the requirements for stack sampling.
Table 5.9.1 provides recommendations for the four preceding primary testing conditions based on the end uses of the data.
