Aluminum cans are one of the most common items recovered through municipal and commercial recycling programs because they are easily identified by residents and employers. They also provide higher revenues than other recyclable materials. The recycling of used beverage cans (UBCs) not only saves valuable landfill space but also minimizes energy consumption during the manufacturing of aluminum products. Manufacturing new aluminum cans from UBCs uses 95% less energy than producing them from virgin materials.
