Definition of Hazardous Waste

A solid waste is classified as a hazardous waste and is subject to regulation if it meets any of the following four conditions:

The waste is a characteristic hazardous waste, exhibiting any of the four characteristics of a hazardous waste: ig-nitability, corrosivity, reactivity, or toxicity (see Section 11.4 Hazardous Waste Characterization). The waste is specifically listed as hazardous in one of the four tables in Part 261, Subpart D of the RCRA regulations: Hazardous Wastes From Nonspecific Sources,
