State Programs

State governments enable legislation providing for involvement in storm water management. For example, the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) ensures that environmental values are considered by state and local government officials when making decisions. The Department of Ecology (State of Washington) recently completed a storm water rule, a highway storm water rule, and a model storm water ordinance for local governments. These rulings require the development of storm water management programs for cities and counties.
